PREVIEW-ORCHARD LAKE ST.MARYS VS EAST LANSING

Game eight of the 10th annual 2K showcase promises to be a showdown, with some fans dubbing it potentially the game of the year. It features the #1 Orchard Lake St. Marys Eaglets against the #3 East Lansing Trojans.

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (14-1) is no stranger to the 2K showcase, making their fourth appearance. They've consistently delivered impressive performances against Michigan's top teams, maintaining their status as the sole undefeated team in the event. Led by Coach Todd Covert, the team is riding a 10-game winning streak, having faced tough competition in the Catholic League. Their roster features one of the nations elite talents, junior Trey McKenney, junior Sharod Barnes continues to prove why he is a division one guard as well as being one of the states best lockdown defenders. Senior sharpshooter Daniel Smythe spreads the floor for the Eaglets, while emerging juniors Isaiah Hines and Jayden Savoury provide depth in both the backcourt and frontcourt.

East Lansing (14-1) makes its debut in the 2K showcase, bringing the pride and tradition from the state's capital to the event. Coach Ray Mitchell has molded an exciting squad, with junior Cam Hutson leading the Trojans, recognized as one of the top players in the state. Alongside him is sophomore Kelvin Torbert Jr., also a top 5 player in Michigan's 2026 class. Junior Jayce Branson brings high energy for the Trojans, while junior Brian Windham Jr. runs the point.

While most fans' focus will naturally gravitate towards the individual talents, it's essential to remember that basketball is a team sport. This implies that the X-factors for each team could ultimately influence the game's outcome. As both Orchard Lake and East Lansing aim for a strong push towards a state championship, this matchup presents an ideal opportunity to gauge their resilience on the grand stage of the 10th annual 2K showcase.
